There are three mackerels common to the southern coastal state of Florida, but only the largest is given the name King! These monsters can reach lengths of up to six feet long, and have been known to grow up to a massive 100 pounds!
These “green water” fish who tend to travel between the beaches and jade depths of the continental shelf are the most sought after and admired mackerel in the state of Florida, as well as surrounding territories! They prefer to stay at depths from 20-250 feet, so you always have a pretty good shot at nabbing one of these bad boys!
Now this girl here must be excited as all hell getting one of these kings, and it seems like this one met his match. After a good fight she was able to pull her prize back up onto the boat, and amazingly the fish is almost as long as she is tall!
If you stick around long enough she even gets a shot at another fish, but we’ll leave that as a surprise!
These catch and release anglers let the King Mackerel back out to sea to one day be caught again, possibly preparing ardently for its next battle!
