Ever Seen A Snake Snatch A Catfish? We Have!

You’ve never seen something quite like this before!

It was a calm day on the water out on Falls Lake, North Carolina. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and the fish were swimming on their merry way. But this is still the animal kingdom, and fish have to be wary of the surroundings else a predator makes them their meal!

Take this catfish for example, certainly he was prepared for the predators inside the water, and maybe even for an angler with his line cast, but for a snake?

Evidently not!

This snake was far too quick and cunning for the catfish and was able to snap it up in one fell swoop! The snake, which if I was a betting man, has to be a Water Moccasin. Fish and frogs do happen to make up the majority of a Water Moccasin snake’s diet, but I think we can all agree that that is one pretty large catfish for a snake.

Now that catfish is pretty wide, much wider than the snake. It’ll be an uphill battle for the Water Moccasin and will definitely take some time but a snakes jaw is built for this kind of challenge! Because of this snakes aren’t known to discriminate when it comes to their food, they will take any opportunity they can get!

Hell, who can blame them when it’s a nice catfish dinner!
