Just off the icy shores of Lake Superior live some of the largest lake trout you’ll ever see!
These things are absolute beasts! Known as siscowets, they’re a fatty lake trout and many of them inhabit the largest lake in the world. Many an angler come to Superior’s shores from Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario to get a shot with these big guys all winter long!
The lake is fed by over 200 rivers, and a giant set of rapids. Depths can range from 600 to almost 1000 feet. The water is icy cold and laden with ship wrecks, which provide a natural habitat for fish the lakes large fish population. This trout aren’t the only big game out here, walleyes and lake salmon are just as massive.
In just two days, Jarek from RodsBent and his pal Drew Mattheus caught three of these bad boys, the first being roughly 25 pounds, and the second two each coming in at around 35 lbs!
