There are a lot of videos on the internet when it comes to fishing in kayaks and dealing with sharks. Hell, some of the more brave (see: crazy) kayak anglers even go out hunting for them!
These people, unlike many of us, don’t quite get that uneasy feeling when a shark is between you and a few inches of watercraft. But even the best and most courageous fisherman have their breaking point.
This is one of those moments!
Brandon Barton is one of those anglers, and he seems to have met his match. Barton was kayak fishing a mile off Navara Beach, near Pensacola, Florida when he hooked himself a Spinner shark who gave him a scare that would challenge any sport fisherman.
What happened next was as spectacular as it was terrifying! The Spinner shark, named aptly, began leaping up into the air spinning viciously in an attempt to either break free, or do some harm to the thing that had it hooked. These spins are part of the sharks feeding ritual, so make no mistake this technique is meant to deal some serious damage.
I did my best to keep this crazy shark out of my kayak,”
The shark eventually broke off Bartons line on his last set of spins and not a moment too soon, any closer and this video footage may have never made it back to shore! While this was a dangerous encounter, it’s amazing to actually see footage of this creature defying gravity in the most spectacular fashion!
